Anathema stares blankly at Prospero for a moment. Then comes to what seems like an appropriate conclusion,
"Oh! You mean... do you think he'll be offended that Kalira and I are lovers? Given the way Iason talks about him I find that HIGHLY unlikely!"
Prospero's jaw drops about half an inch. The jaw moves side to side while he replays the last several seconds of conversation in his head.
Eventually Prospero says, "That wasn't actually the part of the arrangement that a father like Devlin might be less than pleased with, Anathema. It is possible, but not terribly likely that he would take offense with the... relationship that you and Kalira share."
Am I in the wrong conversation? What the heck is he talking about? Anathema looks to Jilena and Kalira for any clue as to what Prosero might be trying to communicate.
"...Then... what do you mean? Does he have a problem with pets? Because I could take them to stay with that Pooka boy if they're going to be a problem..."
Kalira *blinkblinks* at Anathema as if to say, "I don't understand either." She looks quizzically at each person in turn, but decides to keep her mouth shut for now.
I should know better then to practice subtlety with satyrs and Fiona. I really should.
Prosperos moves to stand by where Jilena is sitting and places a hand on the top of her chair.
"Exhibit A is Jilena a young and very beautiful sidhe."
Prospero moves his hand and lays it on his breast.
"Exhibit B exhibits two qualities that could be worrying to a sidhe father either separately or in conjunction. The first are conjoined facts of exhibit B's gender, preferences, and marital status. Secondly there is the matter of exhibit B's kith. It would be most reasonable for the father of Exhibit A to be concerned about the presence of Exhibit B in the living arrangement based on Exhibit B's gender. It would also not be completely surprising for an objection to be raised based on the matter of kith."
Prospero looks from face to face.
"Does this make sense?"
Anathema looks serious for moment, as if considering some mathematical formula. Then she responds, to Jilena,
"Exhibit A, what do you think?"
Jilena looks down at her hands twisted in her lap for several seconds before she looks up.
"As much as Devlin might think otherwise, I'm not a little girl anymore." Her chin lifts a little, and she suddenly seems to take on a regal demeanor. "I'm a grown woman, with my own life to lead, and I can make my own decisions." A smile. "I know what I want, and father or no, he'll have to deal with that."
I just hope you can take the weight of your decisions. An angry father isn't that bad the worst he'll probably think to do is kill us. No matter what Jilena does her mother will love her. The dead are good like that.
Prospero's gaze seems to empty, but not in a hostile way. He moves the hand from his chest back to his side. After a few seconds he seems to direct a small and single nod down at Jilena.
His whisper is quiet to the point of being nearly inaudible even to him, "Indeed."
Anathema smiles and glances at Kalira, beaming with pride.
"Well. That settles that! I'm sure Devlin won't think twice about it anyway. So, Kalira and I are going to go get some... rest. Then, in the morning, the three of us can go shopping! So, we'll just leaveyou and Prospero to consider any other preparations that might need to be made..."
Anathema stands and wraps a and around Kalira's shoulder, urging her to follow along.
Prospero seems to come out of his fugue and whispers at the retreating women, "Good night."
He turns again to regard Jilena. He gives a small pleasant smile, or at least as close has a sluagh can get to a pleasant smile.
"Shall I get us some wine to celebrate with? I think there is a sweet red in the fridge that you might like and a bottle of Thunderbird hidden in the crisper for me."
Jilena gives Prospero a radiant smile. "Thank you; I'd like that."
When they're both settled with their drinks, she reaches for Prospero's hand. "You've done so much for me; I want you to know that I'm very grateful." She looks at him shyly. "And...more than grateful." She looks down at her free hand resting in her lap. "I don't know whether Janel would have felt this way, but I know I do." Pause. "I'm very fond of you."
Prospero sets his glass down on the table. He moves his hand to Jilena's outstreched hand and rests the tips of his fingers on it.
"I'm very... fond of you has well."
He cocks his head at her and gives a bit of smile. "It doesn't matter how Janel or Charles would feel. The only important thing is that Jilena and Prospero share a... fondness."
Prospero wraps his fingers around Jilena's.
Jilena gives Prospero a shy, but heartfelt, smile. "Indeed."

((OOC:Fade to black. End of Thread.))
Kalira obligingly follows along, pausing to wink at the sluagh and the other sidhe. "Have a nice night, you two."
