Mayumi bounds up the stairs of Aya and Ariadne's house and rings the bell. "Amelia? Aya? It's Mayumi, Saki, and Kate!"
Her green eyes lighting up, Ariadne excuses herself for a moment to answer the door. "Hi! Glad you could make it!"
"We are happy to be here," Saki returns with a slight bow. She winks. "And do not worry about Aidan-san or Aaron-san...Ikki and Shun can keep them..." she pauses to search for the right word, "entertained?"
Kalira sets a foil-covered pan on the snack table and gives Ariadne and Aya a smile, offering a warmer smile to Anathema. "So, who else is coming?" she inquires.
Anathema is about to make some gracious comment about the impressive amount of food when the new guests arrive. She returns Kalira's smile tenfold, then proceedes to give each of the ladies a european greeting (kiss on each cheek). As one might expect, she lingers just a bit when greeting Kalira, taking in her scent.
"Well, I was thinking of inviting Jilena, but I wasn't sure if she was up to meeting so many new people. Also,I thought that a certian gothic gentleman might like some time alone with her." Anathema's face lights up with a playfull smile "But, I'm sure that we could go kidnap her and bring her along, if you all think it's a good idea. She could really stand to get out of the house more."
Aya seems to be considering what Anathema is saying, then she smiles and urges, "Let's see if she wants to come over. It must be lonely for her, all by herself."
"Too true. Who wants to take a feild trip with me to go pick her up?" Anathema makes a concerted effort not to look directly at Kalira while asking this last question.
Saki takes note of Anathema's body language, and turns to Kalira. "Why don't you go with her, Kate?" she asks in accented English. "That way, you and Alethea can talk on the way there."
Kalira starts a little at Saki's suggestion, but then she nods. "I'd like that...if it's okay with Alethea."
Anathema smiles brightly. "Of course it's okay! Let's go and try to get back before the ladies eat all the food!"
Suddenly, Anathema remembers the most important thing about girls night "Say, do we have any chocolate or ice cream around here? If not, we should pick some up on the way."
"Kate made double-fudgy brownies," Mayumi pipes up, "and I brought some ginger ice cream, but if somebody wants another flavor, I guess you might have to pick something up."
"Oooohhh... you can't go wrong with brownies, and ginger ice cream sounds great!"
Anathema moves toward Kate and starts to head towards the door. As she does so, she whispers to Kate "You know, ginger is a very potent aphrodisiac."
Kalira gives Anathema a mischievous smile. "Hmmm...maybe I should have made gingerbread, too." She lets her fingers linger on Anathema's as they go out the door. "Did you drive? Because Saki, Mayumi and I walked from the dojo." She gives Anathema a slightly embarassed-looking grin; on her, it looks charming.
Anathema lets out a low chuckle, then feels a spark run up her spine as Kalira's fingers brush hers.
It's been so long since anyone made me feel excited and happy this way. She really is charming
"I did drive. Let me introduce you to Bruce." Anathema motions toward a large black SUV, significantly dirty enough that you can tell it's been offroad more than a few times. Anathema walks to the passenger side and opens the door for her lovely passenger.
"Hello, Bruce," Kalira says with a slight bow and a dazzling smile. Thanking Anathema graciously, she climbs into the passenger seat with a grace that's partly the result of Tae Kwon Do practice and partly the gift of her kith. She buckles her seat belt and folds her hands composedly in her lap, waiting for Anathema to climb in on the opposite side. "So, what's the mysterious Jilena like? I've heard a bunch of things about her from people at the free- um, the mansion, but I've never actually gotten to meet her."
Anathema suddenly has a far off, almost sad look in her eyes. "She seems... dainty, lost. But she's beautiful and charming. She's the kind of woman who you instantly want to protect. Of course, that might have something to do with the fact that her life has turned completely upside down. Spending time with us tonight is probably just what the girl needs. Though I don't know how Bruce is going to survive the pleasure of having two beautiful redhead passangers at once!"
Hell, I'm not sure how well I'M going to survive it!
"So... enough about Jilena. Saki seemed to think that you and I have something awfuly important to be talking about. Quite a perceptive woman, Saki is."
"Indeed," Kalira responds with a smile. She chuckles. "Of course, she is a romantic. Shun told me she married Sensei - her husband - for love, even though her family didn't approve." Her smile gets a bit wider. "So I guess she wants to nurture love wherever she finds it."
Anathema is suddenly thankful for her darker skin tone- it prevents her blush from being too obvious.
"Sounds like a good philosophy to me. Though... I've spent so much time nurturing love in other people's relationships, I seem to have forgotten to nurture it in my own. Ever since my chrysalis I've been... distancing myself, trying ot figure out who I am."
Kalira nods. "I know what you mean about trying to find out who you are. I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around this whole 'two worlds' thing." She gives Anathema a smile. "Maybe we can help each other."
**I like her. She's nice, and she knows about the fae, and I can talk to her. Three for three. I think she's definitely a keeper.**
Anathema smiles brightly as the pulls into the driveway and parks Bruce.
"Sounds like a plan to me. Let's go grab Jilena. We shall not take no for an answer! She must come out with us!"
Anathema has a distirbing thought and turns towards Kalira to speak, in a tone somewhere between seriousness and joking
"Just... try not to fall in love with her at first sight, ok?"
"So, who else is coming?" [Kalira] inquires.
Aya counts out names on her fingers. "Dru, Rhia, and Valla," she answers. A smile. "Ariadne and I figured she could use a break from the wedding plans; she's starting to look frazzled."
